' I like the Virgil Flowers character, even though he can be kind of a jerk. I think I was mildly disappointed in this book, but glad that I read it. It was a good enough read, however, I prefer the novels where Lucas is center-stage. This book features detective Virgil Flowers as the main character and Lucas Davenport in a minimal role. ' I love John Sandford, especially his Prey novels. ' not up to the standards, pace of the 'Prey' series, also by him ' - Paula, The story is well written, full of details, and good police work. The minor characters are all familiar: Lucas, Jenkins, Shrake, even Weather appears. Virgil is a great character, pretty mellow, good with people, flawed. Lots of action and mystery ' - Rosaliie, ' All the 'Prey' books are fine, but didn't care for Flowers as a character. Plus they take place in my home state of MN which makes me like them even more.

They are so fun to read, not a whole lot of depth, but great police detective mystery/thrillers.
